Oh! Were they dirty? I found three sets of footprints at the field, too. Two close to my size, and one that was barefooted and larger.

Depends on where you're running. The grass is different than plain dirt.

Grass can be more dangerous than plain dirt, though. You don't know what could be hiding in there when you're in a hurry.
